Lantau Island is located in Hong Kong, where you can visit the Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha) in Ngong Ping village. On this island, you can also visit Hong Kong’s Disneyland. While Tai O is a traditional fisherman village, where you can experienced seeing Hongkong from the different sides.

To explore Lantau island area, we can go to Tung Chung by MTR. From Tung Chung, you can continue your exploration on Launtau island. There’s some great out door activities, such as hiking, visiting some beaches, camping (yes, camping!! read my enjoying Hong Kong from different side experiences).

To visit Ngong Ping village, people usually take a cable car. but if you prefer a bus ride, there’s always an option. Bus main station in Tung Chung is at Tung Chung Bus Terminus, across the Tung Chung MTR station.

Visit Ngong Ping village followed with Tai O

From Tung Chung Bus Terminus:

• Bus no. 20 (Tung Chung – Ngong Ping) to take you to Ngong Ping terminus (bus fares for adult in weekdays: HK$16 and weekend: HK$25).
• Bus no. 11 (Ngong Ping – Tai O) to continue to Tai O fisherman village (bus fares for adults in weekdays: HK$6.3 and weekend: HJ$13).
• Bus no. 23 (Tung Chung – Tai O) to go back to Tung Chung (bus fares for adults in weekdays: HK$ 11 and weekend: HK$18).

You can reverse it to visiting Tai O village followed with Ngong Ping village.
